My heart...

They say as a parent you live with your heart outside of your body. As a mother to three precious children I can relate to that. My heart is in each of them. When they hurt, I hurt and I want nothing more than to fix each one of their hurts. But what do you do when one of your children lives temporarily on the other side of the world in an orphanage??? How do you fix their hurts when you can't hold them in your arms? How do you deal with the constant ache in your heart?? A piece of my heart is attached to a little girl I have never seen nor held. A little girl that at this moment doesn't even know I exist. So how does one deal with this constant ache??? By constant prayer... I find comfort in knowing that even though I can't physically hold her and comfort her I can pray to the one who can. I pray for her daily. I pray that Jesus wraps her in His loving arms when she is scared or hurting. I pray that she feels Gods love for her daily. I pray that somewhere deep down she knows that she has a mommy and daddy that are coming to get her. I want nothing more than to come get her and hold her and tell her that she is loved, always has been and always will be...Not just by her family but by the one true God, the One who sent her mommy and daddy to her. The One who was there with her in the orphanage when she felt alone and scared. I want to tell her just how precious she is to Him. I just long to be there with her... "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you" John 14:18

The answer to why and how you can help

We are asked this question on a regular basis...Why adopt? and why adopt from China? The first one is a little easier for us to answer and explain. God has called us to adopt. God says in the bible that we are all to care for the orphans. What exactly does that look like for everyone? For some it means donating money, for others it means leading mission trips to orphanages to help out and share the word. Then for us and many others it  means adopting. The second question is a little harder for us to explain. It's hard to explain how God places a country so hard on your heart that it can literally make it hard to sleep. We researched other countries but we kept being pulled back to China. There was just something that stirred our hearts every time we talked about it. Every time we saw the face of a Chinese orphan we longed to bring them home. When we found out how these precious little ones wind up in these orphanages we knew that we couldn't just sit back and do nothing. For us, doing something, means adopting.

Now, here is how you can help, how you can be a part of Lorelei's story. Adopting costs money, lots of it. Usually more than any one family a lone can afford. so most families have fundraisers to raise the money needed. We are asking for each and every one of you to consider taking part in one of our fundraisers. This is your chance to not just donate to a good cause but to become part of her story, to literally change a little girls life. How great a feeling it is to know that you helped bring an orphan into a loving forever home. A little girl, that without your help, will never know what its like to have a mommy to kiss away the boo boos or a chance to be a daddy's girl. Every child deserves a loving family. We are asking for your help in bringing our little girl home to us. Home to a mommy and daddy and siblings who love her so much already.

Humbled

When we started this journey we knew we wouldn't be able to do it alone. We knew that we would need a "village" to help bring our daughter home. What we didn't know is just how humbling it would be to have complete strangers join our village. I can't tell you how thankful we are to every one who has purchased shirts or sent donations or just simply prayed for us. Trust me when I say we have definitely felt those prayers!!! We are just getting started in this long process and we know we still have a ways to go, but can I just say THANK YOU to everyone who has shown their support so far?! We seriously can't do this without all of you. This isn't just a worthy cause you are donating to...you are helping us bring our DAUGHTER home. A daughter that we have never met, that we don't even have a picture of yet, but a daughter who has our whole heart already. So thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your support so far. It means the world not just to us but to the little girl we haven't met yet who is waiting for us to bring home.

I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me

Our Journey begins...

The Lord placed China on our hearts March 2012. We have anxiously been waiting till I turned 29 1/2 so we could apply to an agency. Well...it finally happened!!!! We are now officially starting the adoption process and we couldn't be happier, or quite frankly, more scared. You see, we have 2 children already and I am almost 8 months pregnant with our third. Most people assumed we would forget this craziness called adoption when we found out I was expecting...we didn't :) We know God called us to this so we are moving forward. Follow our crazy journey as we pray Lorelei home.
